Kylie Greenan from Richmond, AustraliaBeautiful folds of colour and light, I love the abstract composition of the flower, looks alsmost like silk material, bravo Ron! 13 Aug 2008 6:31am Mirko Herzner from Mühlheim am Main, GermanyThis looks like an experiment with the retro-macro technique. As you provide Exif-data with it I suppose it isn't such an experiment, is it? 13 Aug 2008 7:06am @Mirko Herzner: This is a photo of a canna flower using my Canon 70 – 200 mm with a Canon 500 D close-up lens attached (just like a filter) ... it's sort of a "poor man's" macro ... I'm not certain if that's the retro-macro technique. Betty from New Jersey, United StatesExcellent macro, Ron. Beautiful color, just excellent. 13 Aug 2008 10:23am paulski from Muncie, IN, United Statesvery beautiful and interesting composition... 13 Aug 2008 11:47am Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaA brilliant melody of flower melting, wow, I love how you're doing this Ron :) 13 Aug 2008 12:33pm Tracey from White Hall, United StatesPerfect macro and a brilliant abstract. The colors are beautiful as well. Nice work! Is it a flower? 13 Aug 2008 1:53pm @Tracey: It is a flower ... a canna. When the flowers first appear they look like this ... mostly yellow with red spots ... as the flower ages (over the course of a few days) it gradually turns completely red. Mirko Herzner from Mühlheim am Main, GermanyHej Ron. It's something quite similar to the retro-macro technique then. The poor man's tag fits both of them: For a retro-amcro you simply use any lens (wide-angle for stronger effects) and hold it in front of your camera turned around. Then you need to focus by moving the camera back and forth. Needs some practice but is great fun... 13 Aug 2008 2:13pm Chris from South Jersey, United StatesWonderful that you made something natural so abstract. Really a stunning image..... 13 Aug 2008 2:20pm Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaRon, this is so pretty. You just take us right into the flower. It's a lily, probably a tiger lily would be my guess. Thanks for this up close and personal look into the world of flowers. 13 Aug 2008 3:04pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesA floral abstract that could be a study of the surface of the sun. Well seen. 13 Aug 2008 3:30pm hugo poon from hong kong, Hong KongWonderful abstract Ron! Beautiful dreamy expression... 13 Aug 2008 3:36pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomYou a really into deep space Ron, what's this, a distant Nebula..? Beautiful image. 13 Aug 2008 5:58pm Paul van der Meer from Valkenswaard, NetherlandsMore than perfect Ron, my compliments! 13 Aug 2008 7:16pm danthro from Suburbia, United Statescool abstract shot! it looks like it could be an alien life form. did they find it in the water on Mars? ;) 13 Aug 2008 8:47pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaLike the journey of the incredible shrinking man as he ventures into life as a molecule. This is really super, Ron! 14 Aug 2008 4:05am amy from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaWasn't sure about this one at first... but the more I looked the more I began to see the absolute beauty in the abstractness of the image.
