It really showcases the form of the bird. 21 Jul 2008 3:16pm zOOm from Paris, FranceOf course, it's dawn... and it certainly creates a splendid poetic atmosphere... but it couldn't great to have more light too... this bird, however, has a beatiful attitude ! 21 Jul 2008 4:27pm Cheryl from Texas, United Statesthe light you've captured here is beautiful! very nice! 21 Jul 2008 5:54pm Melissa W. from Warsaw, Indiana, United StatesGorgeous capture, Ron! Can't get over the sharpness and detail...beautiful contrast. 400mm?? New one? 21 Jul 2008 6:59pm @Melissa W.: Thanks Melissa ... I appreciate your kind words. Actually, the 400 mm is not a new lens; I bought a Canon 2-times extender for wildlife/nature moments like this. So the extender is on my 70 - 200 mm. It doesn't focus as fast, and even with the IS (image stabilization) you have to be very, very steady. In this shot, I'm leaning against a tree. I probably shot 200 images of this crane; most of it sitting on the limb in the tree. At some point it flew down and was within 8 feet of where I was sitting/standing ... unfortunately the light wasn't the greatest when it was closest to me. Jonathan Alan Photography from St. Louis, United Statesgreat silhouette very well framed 21 Jul 2008 9:04pm Chris from South Jersey, United StatesGreat shot - the lighting is wonderful and the processing in B&w perfect.... 21 Jul 2008 10:57pm danthro from Suburbia, United Stateswow, Ron! love the way you captured the light on the bird! beautiful detail, love the DOF effect with the shadows in the background, great job!! 22 Jul 2008 12:04am Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaI like the mood of mystery and serenity the photo invokes. This is a beautiful image! 22 Jul 2008 3:54am Michael from TX, United StatesWow, this is a really beautiful shot. Nice choice of black and white. I agree with danthro that the DOF is perfect. I also really like the way the light is seeping through the feathers at the bottom of the wing. Very well done! 24 Jul 2008 12:41am |
