Fox pupsPosted by Ron (Saint Louis, United States) on 30 June 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. I ran across a female fox and her two pups while out shooting Saturday (28 June) morning. The mother crossed the trail and disappeared (no doubt so she could keep a close eye on me and my movements) while the two pups waited. They did allow me to get fairly close. This is the one decent shot I took of the two together. For a more detailed explanation of the encounter, please see the comments from yesterday's post.

I was really fortunate to encounter these little beauties. The fact that it happened in the Missouri Botanical Garden (a protected and well maintained public space) helps to account for the deep green of the grass. But, we here in Missouri are in the midst of our wettest spring on record. I've lived here most of my life and have never seen such green, green conditions.
