These are stunning. Where are you finding these lovely sea creatures? 10 Jun 2008 4:26pm @Marcie: I wish I could say I've just come back from a two-week stay at the beach, but the truth is that would be a brazen lie! My colleague has a great nautical theme going on in his office, and I came up here (to the office) Sunday evening and shot this series using late afternoon, filtered sunlight. I read a story in PhotoPro magazine (by Dave Willis) with black and white advice from Greg Gorman and John Paul Caponigro, and I wanted to try my hand at Gorman's B&W technique with tinting. Basically, the shots all week will be high-contrast images that I've converted to B&W and tinted ... so they're really B&W duotones. The sea creatures are courtesy of my colleague, Brian Kirk ... who just so happens to be away all week at church camp with about 50 teenagers ... better him than me!! Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaGreat capture and technique Ron. I really enjoyed your explanation to Marcie. You should be with those kids, think of the photographic skills you could teach them. ;D Kidding aside, I look forward to the rest of the series. 10 Jun 2008 5:12pm Graham Russon from Cape Town, South AfricaBeautiful shot and great processing on this one.
