Simply beautiful. I thought it a lace edged hankie at first, but I think it is the remains of a shell that has been shaped by the elements.

May I reveal the secret of the photo? It is an amazing image of a shell that comes from the beach on Dog Island, a secluded barrier reef island off the coast of Florida which is also a wildlife preserve.

@Brian K: Thank you for that enlightening information (most of which I did not know ... I did know it was a beautiful, age-worn shell). Brian is my colleague from whose office I borrowed the shell and the bottle (that was the subject of yesterday's post). rll
