Marion from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaA very interesting picture. They almost look as though they are dancing. The colors are wonderful. 28 Apr 2008 6:05am dobbino from Cape Town, South AfricaA very intriguing image, with beautiful tones. Interested to know how you achieved the lighting, with the sun behind but the figures lit from in front. Another HDR composition? If so, it's exteremely well done. 28 Apr 2008 9:39am Andrew Gould from Sydney, AustraliaExcellent, Ron. The framing. light and good exposure all add up to make this a great image. It would be interesting to have some background information on this sculpture. 28 Apr 2008 10:11am akarui from Kagoshima, JapanNice picture. I suppose that there were some orange lights coming from down. Hard to understand the lightning from the shadows. HDR picture? 28 Apr 2008 10:38am Anita from West Nottingham, United StatesI like this photo very much! Fabulous light! The orange on the figures is picked up in the sky also, creating a cohesive feels. Love the composition. You allowed enough room for the man to look into. Very, very nice. 28 Apr 2008 11:31am Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaHow fabulous, the dawn of humanity indeed, perfectly called, perfectly taken... 28 Apr 2008 11:44am Aaron Schmidt from Auckland, New ZealandBeautiful. Excellent angle putting the sun behind the statues. Not much I can critique on this one ... just wonderful. 28 Apr 2008 11:48am Chris from South Jersey, United StatesBeautiful colors, composition, and lighting. An extremely well thought out photo with the backlighting and the angle you used - the man looking at the sun is just great. 28 Apr 2008 1:43pm Wysterior from Kloten, SwitzerlandThat's another very cool one - superb light and upraise "feeling" 28 Apr 2008 2:26pm Shrig from NorthEast, United StatesThe lighting here is just wonderful! Great photo! :) 28 Apr 2008 2:43pm MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomThe lighting and angle of this shot are superb Ron. Thank you for your poetic comment on my post on Friday :) 28 Apr 2008 3:00pm Tracey from White Hall, United StatesI am curious about the halo around the statue...PP or was that the way the sky was lit? Just a G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S shot! 28 Apr 2008 3:43pm @Tracey: Thanks, Tracey. The sun was just above the horizon when I snapped this shot ... so a lot of the halo is provided by the sun's position relative to the statue and me (the photographer). I did ramp up the luminosity in post processing so it is accentuated somewhat. The other element in the mix is that this is another experiment (on my part) in HDR, which also adds to the drama of the sunrise. I have two more shots that I'm posting tomorrow and Wednesday that show the statue from different angles and the sky is completely different in each one ... if you wait just a bit after sunrise the sky begins to take on a completely different look. yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecethe lighting is fantastic - excellent framing and colors 28 Apr 2008 4:03pm Observing from Chester, United KingdomI find this a remarkable image Ron, the effect of the intense colored light is good.
