One of the works of artist Niki de Saint Phalle (1930 – 2002) on display at the Missouri Botanical Garden (April 27 – October 31, 2008). Best known for her colorful, larger-than-life mosaic sculptures, crafted from fiberglass, stones, glass, mirrors and semi-precious materials, this French-born, New York-city raised artist was the only female member of the New Realists, Europe's most influential post-World War ii art movement. This piece is 15 feet (4.572 m) tall and weighs more than 6 tons (5.443 metric tons).
