One of the works of artist Niki de Saint Phalle (1930 – 2002) on display at the Missouri Botanical Garden (April 27 – October 31, 2008). Best known for her colorful, larger-than-life mosaic sculptures, crafted from fiberglass, stones, glass, mirrors and semi-precious materials, this French-born, New York-city raised artist was the only female member of the New Realists, Europe's most influential post-World War ii art movement.
This piece is 15 feet (4.572 m) tall and weighs more than 6 tons (5.443 metric tons).
one of my favourite sculptors! Love her work, everything she does is beautiful-and so photogenic! great shot.

This is a great image Ron, and also a great piece od Art. Even though it's a skull, it looks quite friendly.

@Observing: Thanks for the kind words ... actually it is quite friendly ... the kids seem to love it – they can actually walk through it and there's a little mosaic bench in the walk through that the kids just seem to gravitate toward.

I agree with Observing that this looks a friendly skull . . fascinating how the artist ‘saw’ things this way. Like the idea of the seat within the head!

Cette tete est vraiment étrange ! La photo réussie, les couleurs du paysage se marient parfaitement avec la sculpture.
