This was an attempt to pan; all but one of these attempts were miserable failures. I like the abstract quality of this one.
I like the effect too. Panning is easier said than done, but this is a good attempt. The bird could have at least flown across your field of view instead of kind of away from it. ;D. If you know what I mean.

I like the abstract effect, too. And I like the green and brown tones, which look very natural. Well done!

I love this, well done, it's speed in harmony, Bravo Ron!

I like the abstract quality to this one, too! But there is still some detail in the bird! Very nicely done.

Great shot - I haven't tried panning yet so I can't comment on how difficult it must be - but I love this shot - great movement and a wonderful abstract quality to it.

it does capture a nice sense of movement.

The blur works for this very well, Ron. And quite frankly it's far better than I've been able to accomplish. Why did you have your shutter speed so slow? Not enough time between seeing the hawk (?) and trying to get the shot? It still works wonderfully, though, Ron!! Sometimes the accidents work best!!

@amy: After awhile I realized that my shutter was too slow and made the adjustments ... I'm a little slow on the uptake sometimes!!
Caught on the wing, the essence of speed has been captured well.

Actually, I quite like this result although I imagine you were after something different altogether. Noted on the shutter speed : been there, done that. Took me about a week of going back and trying again and again before I got flight shots I was happy with.

I like that feeling of movement, the bird seem to be moving faster each time I look at it

This is wonderful, Ron. Love how you captured the movement. I haven't tried panning yet either, but I can imagine how difficult it must be.
