The traffic light matches the sky where our eye is led to enjoy the drama of light, texture and color. A fabulous image, Ron.

Hi Ron - yet another great shot. What intrigues me here is where did you take the photo from? I presume from out of your auto's windows while waiting at the traffic lights? This is also a very difficult time of day to capture the detail you have here.

@dobbino: Rob, actually, I had driven through the traffic signal you see here (on my way to work) and the light was just too beautiful to pass on. So I made a u-turn in the road, drove to the point where I thought I'd have the best perspective, parked the car, and, quite literally, stood in the middle of the road to take several shots of this scene. In the distance you can see a portion of downtown St. Louis and the Arch.
I read the title and think of The Pretenders song, Middle of the Road. Nice early morning light shot.

@Bonj: Just a couple weeks ago I downloaded a bunch of Pretenders (remastered) music from iTunes. I've been listening to it almost non-stop since then. That song (which I absolutely love) is exactly what prompted this shot, and several more since then. I wondered if anyone would make the connection...
Just love how the emerging early morning light washes over the little details here . . this image has such a sense of being there waiting for the light!

I LOVE that song...in fact, I just listened to it last night. Weird. This is beautiful, Ron. The sky is just a gorgeous color...I especially love how the pavement looks in this light. Really beautiful.

I love how the traffic light mimics the sun in the background. Don't you wonder what people think about us crazy photographers doing crazy things like being in the middle of the road during morning commute time? They've gotta be thinking, "What the heck is he taking a picture of?" They just don't "see" the same as us.

Great photo. What I loke the most is that your work tells me a story about an early morning situation. I can feel me "inside", I hope you know what I mean... Wys

I love the picture, and the story of how you got it. That's wonderful. This is a great piece of "Americana" to me. Very well seen. Glad you didn't get flattened taking it.
